The Low Dose Enzyme Activation (LDA) in an immunotherapy treatment that can provide relief from Allergy Symptoms.

Developed by Dr. McEwen, LDA is an injection that combines a wide range of common allergens and administers them to the patient in very low doses.

The Low Dose Enzyme Activation is administered on a bi-monthly basis initially and with the Doctor’s recommendation, the interval may be changed.

Most adults require 16 to 18 treatments, but after that period some patients can discontinue or dramatically reduce the frequency they receive their LDA at The Mackie Clinic.

The benefit of the LDA treatment is that over time, patients experience long term relief from their allergy symptoms and seemingly un-related conditions including:

  • Asthma
  • Rhinitis
  • Nasal Polyps
  • Eczema
  • Urticaria
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Migraines and Headaches
  • Rheumetoid Arthritis
  • Petit Mal Epilepsy
  • Post Viral Syndrome
  • Food Allergies
  • Chemical Sensitivity

Is the LDA covered by insurance?

No, the LDA is not covered by insurance. If have any questions on our different Allergy Treatments, please call us at 956-631-2957.
The Don’ts for LDA:

Please note that in order for the LDA to be effective, you need to avoid antihistamines 7 days before your dose.

Additionally, Sulfa drugs should not be taken 4 days before or 3 weeks after your LDA shots.

Do not take antidepressants the day of your LDA dose.

If you or someone you love need relief from allergies or any of the conditions above, call our Ent Specialists to find relief from your allergy symptoms.
